Lion (adapted from the non-fiction book A Long Way Home by Saroo Brierley), is based on the heart-wrenching true story about a five year-old Indian boy who, after a wrong train takes him thousands of miles away from home and family, survives many challenges before being adopted by an Australian couple (Nicole Kidman Best Supporting Actress nominee, Golden Globes and David Wenham.) I Am Not Your Negro

Mon. 2/20 - Tues. 2/28

(PG-13~Doc) 1 hr. 33 min. (Digital) In English (Documentary)

Nominated for an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature, I Am Not Your Negro is based on the book author James Baldwin never finished.  In 1979, Baldwin wrote a letter to his literary agent describing his next project titled Remember This House. The book was to be a revolutionary, personal account of the lives and successive assassinations of three of his close friends — Medgar Evers, Malcolm X and Martin Luther King, Jr.  At the time of his death in 1987, Baldwin left behind only 30 completed pages of his manuscript. Now, in his incendiary new documentary, master filmmaker Raoul Peck envisions the book Baldwin never finished. The result is a radical, up-to-the-minute examination of race in America, using Baldwin’s original words and flood of rich archival material. I Am Not Your Negro is a journey into black history that connects the past of the civil rights movement to the present of #blacklivesmatter. it is a film that questions black representation in Hollywood and beyond. Ultimately, by confronting the deeper connections between the lives and assassination of these three leaders, Baldwin and Peck have produced a work that challenges the very definition of what America stands for.
