A United Kingdom

Fri. 3/10 -Thurs. 3/23

(PG-13) 1 Hr. 56 Min. In English (Drama, Romance)

A United Kingdom is based on extraordinary true events. In 1947, Seretse Khama, the King of Botswana, met Ruth Williams, a London office worker. They were a perfect match, yet their proposed marriage was challenged not only by their families but by the British and South African governments. The latter had recently introduced the policy of apartheid and found the notion of a biracial couple ruling a neighboring country intolerable. South Africa threatened the British: either thwart the couple or be denied access to South African uranium and gold and face the risk of South Africa invading Botswana. This beautifully told love story cuts across continents and tells a chapter of history few are aware of.

All Nighter

Wed. March 22

(R) 1 Hr. 26 Min. (Digital) In English (Comedy)

The next film in the monthly New York Film Critics series of sneak previews is All Nighter, a comedy about Martin, a struggling LA musician meeting his girlfriend Ginnie's intimidating father for the first time over dinner.  The meal is a complete disaster. Six months later, Martin is broken-hearted over being dumped by Ginnie, who has "moved on.” But that’s not the end to the story. Gallo shows up at Martin’s looking for his daughter. Her cellphone is off and she has not responded to any texts or emails. Although it's the last thing he wants to do, Martin agrees to help find Ginnie, and learns more about Mr. Gallo over the course of one night than he bargained for. Starring J.K. Simmons, Emile Hirsch, Analeigh Tipton, Taran Killam, and Kristen Schaal.
