The Drowning

(NR) I Hr. 35 Min. (Digital) In English (Drama, Suspense)

The next film in the NY Film Critics Series of sneak previews is The Drowning which is based on Border Crossing, the controversial novel about violence in children by noted Booker Prize-winning author Pat Barker. The Drowning was adapted for the screen by Stephen Molton and House of Cards showrunner Frank Pugliese, and stars Julia Stiles, Josh Charles, Avan Jogia, Tracie Thoms and Leo Fitzpatrick. The story of a forensic psychologist who is haunted by his expert witness testimony that sent a young boy to prison, The Drowning celebrates the psychological thriller genre with electrifying performances. This bold and complex story is not only riveting, it is unafraid to tread deep in murky pathological waters. On-Screen Talkback with Julia Stiles, Josh Charles and Director Bette Gordon following the film.
