Box Office Policies
You may purchase tickets online, by phone or in person at the Box Office with cash, check, Visa, Discover, American Express or Mastercard. Payment is required at the time of reservation. We ask that you allow plenty of time to purchase your tickets if arriving for a film, concert or event, and suggest that you purchase tickets in advance whenever possible to avoid delays in being seated. We do not accept unpaid ticket reservations or hold tickets for in-person purchase later. A $2 preservation fee is applied to all concert and performance ticket sales. This fee is used for ongoing restoration, repair and maintenance of the non-profit State Theatre. Please; no photography, videotaping or recording of any kind without prior arrangements. Please turn off your cell phones, pagers and refrain from text messaging during all films and performances. Shows at The State start promptly. If you are unavoidably delayed, you will be seated at the discretion of the House Manager.
Phone orders received more than four days before a film or concert will be sent via first-class mail to the address you provide. You may also request that we hold your tickets at Will Call. If so, you may pick up Will Call tickets at the box office from noon to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday, up to one hour before a concert or performance and up to half an hour before the start of a film. Please be prepared to show a photo ID. Tickets purchased less than four days in advance will automatically be held at Will Call.
Please present your printed ticket purchase confirmation at the box office when you arrive for a film or concert. A confirmation number will also be accepted with a photo ID.
Unable to use your tickets?
All ticket sales are final; however, if you are not able to use your tickets, you may donate them back to The State Theatre. To donate your tickets, please return them to the Box Office prior to the concert or performance. We are not able to accept donations of unused film tickets. The State will acknowledge your ticket donation by mail and you will receive a donation letter suitable for filing with your tax return. Our mailing address is P.O. Box 1492, Modesto, CA 95354.
Tickets may be exchanged for a higher priced seat, or a seat in a different location, depending on ticket availability. This exchange policy only applies to concerts and special events.
Lost or Missing Tickets
If your tickets do not arrive before a film or concert, have been lost or left at home, come to the Box Office at least 15 minutes before the start of a film or half an hour before the start of a concert and your tickets will be reprinted. A photo ID is required.
