TestimonialsFrequent Facebook poster, teacher and State Theatre friend and film lover Gary Rohwer consented to being videotaped after being asked, "Why is The State Theatre important to you and our community?"
"CareMore hosted an event for our members at the State Theatre and it was a great success. Our members loved returning to a theater they visited in their youth, seeing The State restored to it's glory and of course they loved the movie. Everyone at CareMore appreciated the extra effort from Sue (Richardson, general manager) and her team -- she made it easy for us to host the event. I highly recommend The State Theatre for your events and meetings."
- Cheri Brown, Stanislaus County Sales Manager, CareMore Health Plan
"I wish to thank you again for the wonderful and very pleasant experience I, and all our volunteers, had at the showing of The 13th Day. We felt very welcomed and cared for as we were given every attention and assistance from you and your staff during planning, set up and take down of our show. Please accept our deepest appreciation for such a well-organized and helpful staff. It was a joy to work with all at The State Theatre. We look forward to seeing you again. Thank you! God bless you!"

"The State Theatre has always has gone the extra mile to make our event a success! They gracefully handle our every question and concern with immediate attention to ensure that we are comfortable and satisfied with every answer. And better yet, year after year, The State has continuously let us make ourselves at home, allowing us to customize our event staff and have input on nearly every facility-related detail leading up to and on the day of the event. I highly recommend having your next event at The State!"
-Greg Edwards, co-founder and co-organizer, The Ill List
"I have found working with Sue (Richardson, State Theatre general manager), and her entire staff, to be an absolute delight! When I first met with her, she sat down and answered all of my questions thoroughly and efficiently, which was a foreshadowing of the experience I would have in working with her and everyone else there. They are all incredibly attentive and are ready to lend a hand in anything you need or want. I will definitely use The State as a venue again, I'm afraid now I've been too spoiled to go anywhere else.”

"It is our pleasure to have the opportunity to have any association with The State Theatre. It is by far the real inclusive community theatre in this town. Your kindness and availability to us as an organization has far surpassed any thing we've ever earned. You have gone the extra mile in
understanding our cultural differences and embraced us a vital partner. You have graced us by our association with The State Theatre and welcomed our people in numbers. Peer Recovery Art Project's campaign to end stigma and build a more inclusive and therefore healthier community could not have came this far with out your genuine as well as continuous support. For all these things and so many more we salute you, the wonderful State Theatre."
-John Black, executive director of the Peer Recovery Art Project
"You all really brought it on Saturday! From the firme ranflas parked outside to the folklorico and Danzante groups, to the two sold-out shows totaling 1,000 ticket sales, Modesto knows how to put out the welcome! Many thanks to all who volunteered to make it possible, especially Rubi and friends, the car clubs, and of course Sue (Richardson, State Theatre general manager) and the great staff at The State Theatre. We enjoyed mixing it up with the crowd, taking pictures and answering questions, and were humbled by your heartfelt response to the film. Gracias y que viva Modesto!"
-Benjamin Bratt, star of La Mission, and Peter Bratt, the film's screenwriter and director

"The day (at The State) was amazing. The State's Technical/Logistics Support person John (Herman) did an incredible job. He really made you guys shine. He never said no and always got the job done. All I can say is WOW!"

"We had a wonderful time last night for Jim's (retirement) party. Thanks to you and all of your staff! (I love the sound, stage, and lobby.) The whole theater was perfect for our event, and all of you made us feel right at home. Jim enjoyed every minute of the celebration, and his children appreciated and remembered fondly the many years of work Jim put into his career. Being able to use the "Big Screen" made a huge impact - especially for his grandchildren. I can highly recommend The State Theatre as a unique and versatile venue!"
"We have been using the State Theatre as our venue for our fundraising event, Wine, Jazz and a Movie, for five years. We keep coming back because Sue Richardson and her staff are so accommodating and the event runs smoothly as a result. First, we find the beauty of the facility enhances the event bringing an aura of classiness and making decorating for the event much easier. (We are able to keep) our decorating budget low because so little needs done to provide an elegant-looking event. Second, the staff allows us to have the supplies dropped off during the early afternoon, so set up goes more smoothly. They help us with any glitches we encounter and go out of their way to provide any resources they have on hand. Third, they provide advertising for the event through flyers in the lobby, a slide before their movies, eblast marketing and the marquee. Fourth, the technical staff does a wonderful job of making the night run smoothly in spite of having to juggle a PowerPoint production, a program on stage, videos during the program and, finally, a movie. Fifth, the green room has been a wonderful place to host a VIP reception and the staff is generous in letting us take over this space for the night. Throughout the night, the staff helps keep restrooms clean and trash emptied so our event never becomes disheveled. When we are cleaning up, they are there to assist where they can. The State Theatre is a great partner in our event because they communicate well with us starting months prior to the event and continuing until the end.We always know what to expect from each other and we are never disappointed."
-Karen Williams, Executive Director, Stanislaus Literacy Center
"I am very grateful for the huge role you and The State played in making our dream come true. Having our wedding at The State Theatre was the only way I could imagine beginning the new chapter in the novel of our life. From the moment our eyes met and the sparks began to fly all those years ago, we knew we wanted to begin our married life in the place were we met, The State Theatre."

"It was an extreme pleasure working with you and your very talented, good natured and professional staff. It was such a positive situation, and you and your staff were quick to help out with all our requests. You should be proud of the team that you have built and the work that you do. I know the State Theatre is in extremely good hands! The night was very successful, and your facility was just perfect for the event."
